I have worked in private practice offering counselling and psychotherapy for eighteen years. I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a Registered Independent Counsellor / Psychotherapist (United Kingdom Register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists). I adhere to the codes of ethics of the professional organisations to which I belong. This includes ongoing commitments to regular supervision of my work and continuing professional development.
I undertook four years Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy training at Metanoia Institute (Member Organisation of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Studies. For three years I taught counselling theory and skills to beginning counsellors.

I am a qualified social worker. I practised for ten years, with mental health as my chosen special interest. My doctoral thesis focused on social work assessment of families with parental mental illness, examining particularly the impact on children.
As an independent consultant and trainer (Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), for many years I undertook training and development assignments within a variety of organisations, both public and private sector.
As well as working in private practice, I have also gained six years' experience as an employed counsellor, case manager and management support consultant within the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) sector.
